The past two years have been pretty special in the career of Jessica Chastain. The ginger babe had been sloughing through the dregs of TV guest spots and charming (but hardly ever seen) indies for ages before being recognized as the little snowflake that she is and thrust into the Cannes spotlight for Terrence Malick's "The Tree of Life." Two years later, she's navigated back-to-back awards seasons as a nominee and the gettin' is officially good. The world is her dainty little oyster.
So, naturally, the ambitious thesp is ready to launch into some new territory next: outer space. And Christopher Nolan'll be captaining the ship.
Yahoo! Movies confirms that the "Zero Dark Thirty" heroine has joined the cast of director Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" as the third lead, with Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway already strapped in for the ride.
While details on the galactic film fare are slim — Nolan does tend to run a tight-lipped ship — we know that the script was penned by his equally mind-trippy younger brother Jonathan Nolan, whom he collaborated with on several career making projects like "Memento" and "The Prestige" and, of course, "The Dark Knight" series.
Which means this movie will probably be pretty cerebral ...
... full of intended surprises ...
... and so very visually dynamic.
"Interstellar" is said to follow its heroes to the very ends of our knowledge on the universe, including attention to theories on relativity and wormhole travel. Dun dun dunnnn!
That might sound like a certain other Matthew McConaughey in space movie you might've seen, but with the Brothers Nolan on the case, it is sure to stand alone in the end.
